2012 Day 7 Preview - Thurs April 5

Two interesting Goup D games for tonight.

France vs Italy, 8:30 p.m. - France should win this with minimal problems. I know Italy beat El Salvador, but I think that says more about the El Salvador team than Italy's skill level. France is too skilled to let a non-contender steal a win. France wins 5-1.

El Salvador vs Greece, 9:30 p.m. - An epic battle for third place in the group happens in only the second game for each team. Both are coming off of humbling defeats and its tough to determine which will be more mentally scarred. After only one game its looking like 2011 may have been a fluke for both squads. When in doubt, I'll take the team that managed to keep its game close against a playoff contender instead of the one that lost to a winless 2011 team. Greece wins 2-1.

you are one of the few people in Regina well known for hating, congrats can you at-least say something positive about other teams instead of trying to be little or chase them away from the tournament please.

I've got plenty of positive things to say about teams. Call it like I see it though. I'm not sure how I could personally chase them away from the tournament....?

to the first comment pay not attention to the negativity...that's what this blog is known for...ridiculous delusional opinion. Husdal is VERY rarely right on his predictions. All teams in this tournament are garbage for some reason, unless you play for Norway...they you are automatically expected to win the tournament year after year no matter how old the team is and how long they've plateau'd for.

2011 a fluke for ES?
They lost argueable their best player in Julio, their second best player in Chico, and Jerson didn't show up to the first game. I don't rate Jerson highly but he does add some better scoring than Anibal Bravo. You also can't count Riggs out as he scores goals.

If 2011 was a fluke for ES, what is 2007 for Norway? You LIVE AND DIE on that year, and call your self a champion, but your a chump.

Hey, thanks for bringing up 2007. I thought everyone had forgot about that already. Yep, we definitely won it all that year - defeating everyone in big games and when it mattered. Tough to be a fluke when you're the last one standing. When you only miss the playoffs once in the four years since I would say that also disqualifies the fluke aspect. It's why we're going to make the playoffs again in 2012.

Did you just say you would not rate Jerson that high? Are you on crack?? the guy is a goal scoring machine! Essuper fan you need to lay off the drugs

Ha ha all these posts sound like those two duds Julio and Riggs. They only leave there names sometimes. Those are the haters making people look bad. Once again, Braden has his opinion. If you don't like it, get lost. Try Collins blog with where idiots like Julio and Riggs post and make fun of people and give made analysis.

Braden, you know as well as anyone else if you were in ANY other pool last year than the "pool of bottom feeders" you wouldn't have likely made the playoffs. England was the worst team in the tournament. Serbia and Portugal could barely scrap together a win in that weak pool and Seirra Leone gets the best loser in that pool. The fact that you guys only ended up with a +6 +/- in a pool like that should be downright embarrassing! 2010 I'll give you guys credit...that was a tough pool to get out of but you still got convincingly bounced out in the first round. 2009...you guys flat out sucked...you can't deny that. 2008 again....bounced out in the first round convincingly after an average run through in the round robin. I'd love to see you guys in a pool of death situation with a draw like Pool D had last year (Canada, Ukraine, Poland, Germany and Jamaica) and see if you can win a game. Props on winning in 2007 (yes, barely sneaking past some teams) and props on getting out of your pool in 2010, the the rest of the years speak to how truly bad the rest of the teams are more than how good your team is. If you make it out of your pool this year I'll also give you props, but if your first game was an indication of your team, hang on bud...you're in for a bumpy ride against some of the tougher teams.

ESSuperfan, I have to respectfully disagree with you about Jerson. He holds multiple goal, points and shots records for huskies and Canada west. He is a goal scoring machine. Hopefully he catches fire this year and proves you wrong. One of the best pure finishers I've played with or against.

I disagree about our prospects last year if we were in any other pool. We had a decent team. Our problem is always that we play down to our competition. So the scores don't look good but thankfully we're not playing fantasy soccer. We get our results though. We're not a dominant team, but I don't believe I've ever claimed we were dominant. We're effective and we're winners.

Team Norway should get sponsorship from History Chanel. All that talk about something that happened once and so long ago!

ESsuperfan = julio pumping his own tires again. he does it on all the blogs.

the guy is a solid defender but no one actually thinks he is as good as he himself thinks he is. as far as the ES squad from last year goes, i would say there was 4 or 5 guys in the team that are better and losing chico was definitely a bigger hit than losing julio

Ya for them losing Chico and Julio has helped them those players were terrible

I am not Julio as he deserted ES, same with Chico. I watched the game last night and think ES was much better last year. I have posted on these blogs for the last few years under the same heading and will continue to do so as I am a loyal ES fan. The opinions on this blog are Regina based and I have noticed how no matter what is said Regina players get more support. I live in Regina and refuse to have such a close minded mentality.

It guys like Coons and fat strassburger making anonymous posts as they don't like someone yet can stand up like men to say it! There's only a handful of people who follow this blog and they can easily be named.

I follow all the blogs and I don't agree with your point anon 10:07, too many people on these blogs trying to impersonate other people that it's hard to tell who is who but I honestly don't see Julio posting on here for his dislike towards Braden. I think that GOW fellow has started to impersonate more people again as he was pretending to Ramin and a few other guys before.
