2012 WCP Championship Results

Two great games to end the 2012 WCP Cup. In the women's final Ukraine beat Germany for the third straight year in a game that saw three goals and two lead changes in the final 150 seconds. Final score was 3-2 for Ukraine. In the men's final Sudan and Laos played an intense game that saw big goals, hard fouls and a near bench-clearing fight. Crazy final two minutes and even crazier celebrating when it was all over. 3-2 final score for Sudan. Full write-ups will come sometime Sunday.

I hope some teams can kinda look at what the teams have done in this tournament, teams like
Laos, ROI, and Sudan have fielded players from outside of regina and been successful

I am not saying every team should do this but if a team wants to be successful, this needs to be done.I hope more teams will bring players out of Regina so this tournament will be more competitive in the near future

Props to Canada for fielding the only Regina team but came up short unfortunatley

cheers to Sudan winning the tourny they played there hearts out.

Canada had a player from Edmonton, he scored twice vs Afghanistan including the winning header.

Collins stated at the beginning of the wcp cup 2012 that having a good keeper was the key to doing well and that all the top keepers are from the top divisions in the city they play?

Sudan winning shows me how stupid all you clueless bloggers are. Noor plays div 4 and most of the Sudan guys don't play in the top divisions.

This also shows me how clueless all you bloggers are, especially the ones that post on here all the time. Quality players/good players don't have to play div 1. Like give me a break, because you play div 1 doesn't mean you are good at all. Look at Julio, not good. Once again because you play div 1 doesn't mean you are good. Man, all you people on here make me laugh.

Sudan winning is one of the best things that could have happened to this tournament. All this speculation about who is going to do good because they have so and so is all just garbage talk.

How many of you bloggers who claim to know it all and try and make these predictions which are absolutely ridiculous called Sudan winning?

All this talk about Saskatoon quality etc. Did any of these saskatoon guys help there teams win. What happened to poland, roi? Two teams way over hyped. ROI looked dominant, ha ha, statements like that are a joke. Dominant = 4th place apparantely, and how about poland? Jay Tomchuck? Yeah right ... good riddens.

To the last blogger, I agree to certain degree with u, in this tourney format, with kick ins everything about 50 -75 per cent is thrown out the door to play the game and especially another man on the field it's pretty bad soccer to watch, and bloggers like Julio thinks he can walk on water,

It's like I said before these Saskatoon players think no one can beat them, well it showed during the tourney any team can beat anyone

I agree with the last blogger. So true. It doesn't matter what div you play. All the bloggers like that Julio guy are so biased and just suck up to all the people they played with or used to play with.

It is also sad because apparantely if you play anything but div 1 you suck which is complete b.s. If you play div 1 doesn't mean you are good.

Look at Sudan, waita go and waita prove everyone wrong. I also am sick of hearing about these "quality" saskatoon players. Give me a break. I think these duds need to get a life.

Sudan had the majority of their players from Calgary and some from Vancouver. Tong tong plays in the Alberta major soccer league for example. Sudan is by far not a bunch of random division 4 players, and them winning doesn't prove anything about saskatoon players being bad. Saskatoon on average has better soccer players than Regina, and clearly Calgary is better than Saskatoon. Why does everyone get so emotional over those obvious facts..?

Who cares SUDAN won thats all it matters!!!!

I don't care if u bring people from wherever but if u do just make sure they are from that country, yes Sudan had guys from Calgary and Edmonton but they were all from the country they were representing. Congratulations to all the players and the Sudanese community.

Braden,

I have to give you credit for the quality of posts you made this year. It was alot better than previous years and although I never posted, I did read your material.
Hard luck on your team's exit in the group stage.

For the guy that thinks I have posted earlier, your the same guy posting on every blog bashing me... I rather not waste my time with you, as you have a sick obsession and it's unhealthy.

Although I did play a role in the Saskatoon vs Regina debate... that was all a shame to create conversation. There is no way you can really compare Saskatoon vs Regina vs Calgary in this tournament. So many of the top players are spread out throughout teams that it is impossible. To say Saskatoon is not as good as Calgary is also ridiculous, Saskatoon is the reigning National Champion, so during 2011 they were the best team in the nation. I have played in the Major League with Green and Gold, and the league is more competitive that any Saskatchewan league, but as evident of the results shown by Huskie Alumni; Saskatoon teams can beat and compete vs the top teams in the country.

This debate is ridiculous, and really has no basis. I dabbled in the debate to generate some posts, but like most posts that were made by me... they were made as too many people have an opinion with poor backing. My posts were made to generate a reaction... and a reaction was always given, hence why the blogs keep being such an integral part to the WCP experience.

Sudan, much respect for their win. The Sudanese were very respectful winners and classy. I spent some time talking to Tong Tong and another member of the squad and they were were very classy and were quick to give respect to other teams and players that stood out in their opinion... traits that many people on this blog should consider adopting.

The blogs are done people... I shouldn't have even made this posts... yet after not being on the blogs for a few days I just had to take create for the "demise" of ROI.

Don't worry julio, everyone considers you to be a saint and therefore don't have to explain yourself on the blogs. Hehe im sorry im kidding man. As for your sudden argument that there is no way to compare one league to the next in itself is ridiculous. Are you telling me division 6 is not comparable to division 1? That might be taking what you said out of context though so ill gladly raise a different point. You say that claiming Calgary soccer as better than saskatoon is ridiculous? Based on one season of one division of club nationals? if we're being completely honest the best players from any province at the mens level have gone somewhere else to play and aren't involved with club soccer in Canada anymore. Or did you manage to see someone like Owen Hargreaves on Alberta's squad? It just so happens that the best most sask players will play is CIS and can usually remain in sask to play at such a level, and therefore can make a pretty good club team out of saskatchewanians. If you want to find out which provinces or which divisions are better look at current youth and look at historical successions from individual provinces. Sask has very few notable players from the past, and has very few future prodigies when looking at it from a national level. Players like matteo pasquotti and bryce Alderson are examples of people you just don't see graduating from Saskatchewan leagues. And therefore they clearly can't be placed as high as something like calgary's programs, or a province like Vancouver with the whitecaps, or ontario soccer being linked to everton fc. If you want to look at national competitions, look at all star nationals not club nationals, and there you will see that Saskatchewan is seriously lacking compared to others. We simply just aren't on their level and that's a fact. So the league qualities can, in fact, be compared. We only have three mens teams in our top division in Regina.. how can that be as competitive as other places?? As for someone like tong tong from Calgary, honestly speaking he probably isn't even a stand out player in his respective league, (he may be, but i seriously doubt it). But that's just another one of the clear differences in the level of play.

But good job, julio, in your posts on mikes blog, they made it way more interesting and entertaining and just let the idiots be idiots.

Peace.

Saskatchewan has quality like Julio, why do you think we suck. Other provinces like Alberta and B.C. definately are way better. I agree with the above blogger. Julio is a dude and will remain a dud but alot of people. Until next year.

I knew Norway was going to lose in the Saskatoon one, losers

We had 15 players and played 6 games in 3 days, so no gas in final. Plus England is a great team and played/defended extremely well.

Braden you should write up a blog about the weekend since everyone loves hearing about Norway getting medals. Haha

The hacks/spam are more entertaining than listening to his "Norway will dominate and win the tourney with a 10-0 score in the final" garbage and completely uninformed and uneducated "insights" into the tournament.
