Nigeria 7, Norway 3 - Recap

Yikes. We got tooled pretty bad last night. Nigeria was faster, fitter, and overall the better team. We were missing a bunch of players and only had two subs, so that contributed to it, but it was still ugly.

Thank goodness for exhibition season because we were giveaway machines last night. Couldn't keep the ball for anything and so had to play defense for the majority of the game and we were completely gassed by the end. The good news is our strikers played OK, so we should score more goals than in 2011. Really need to work on tightening up the defensive pressure though.

Props to Nigeria, they played well and clearly deserved the win.

Norway worked the ball really well down the sides. Not to be too critical but that was about it. I saw the game and there was no team cohesion with Norway. 2 or 3 guys on that team have some speed but thats about it. With saying that, Norway , you better improve fast but dont be shocked if you lose 3 or 4 games this year. Just sayin..

That's legit. We had a rough game. We were missing two good midfielders, a couple good defense and our starting goalie. I'm not too worried going forward. Subs were our main problem. We're not going to be the fittest team in the tournament that's for sure.

Norway will be fine but they rely heavily on Stephan Husdal if he goes down that's it for u guys, and actually that goalie who played last nite had a couple of saves which was impressive, you defense needs to improve too, I don't know who else you have on d that wasn't their, it was pretty much Nigeria with the ball and if Nigeria is able to beat u guys that means trouble

WOW! Reality setting in on Team Norway...Nigeria only beat last years worst team in the league (Scotland) 3-2. Another over hyped and under delivering kind of year from Mr. Hudsal? Magic 8-ball saaaaaayyss? Signs point to yes!

Ha. Not sure how an exhibition game would count as reality setting in. I'm really not too worried going forward. Losing sucks, but when the result doesn't matter there's no point taking it too seriously.

As for another underachieving year: I'm not sure how making the playoffs the past two years and being one of only four-ever champions counts as underachieving. I wish we would have made it further in the playoffs, but top-eight consistency isn't too shabby either.

Norway usually makes the playoffs because they have been getting weaker teams in their group but not this time, Norway is finishing fourth in the group as I see it right now unless they've picked up new players, and ex games matter coz that's how you build your team chemistry

Agree with Anon 3:30. Braden you keep hanging onto your championship win like it's was last year...it was 5 years ago dude...you haven't been close to the final since! It's easy to make it out of pools when you're up against England, Serbia and Sierra Leone. If you play .500 soccer in this years tourney I'd be surprised.

Props on your championship 5 years ago, but don't forget teams like N. Ireland have also beaten ROI on occasion. If you're crowning achievement in soccer is something you did 5 years ago, it's time to hang 'em up bud, or at least stop talking like you're a guaranteed top contender.
