Laos 2, Sudan 1

Laos barely avoided a major upset in the tournament opener today. I'm still in disbelief that Sudan only managed one goal - should have been at least four more. Well done to Laos keeper Evan Campbell, who single-handedly kept his team in the game (with a little help from Post 1 and Post 2). Laos is going to need to shore up that back line if they want to advance past the quarterfinals. I'm now officially looking forward to watching Sudan vs. El Salvador on Wednesday, should be a great Group A game.

I agree. I personally think Sudan will beat El Salvador after their opening day performance vs. Laos.

If you think sudan is a shitty team you will be surprised once you play them if they can keep there full squad for each game they will surprise you! Fast strong agressive and have technical players

Sudan is a pretty solid team. They missed come big opportunities to put some goals away (And Evan came up big on a couple saves too), but for the most part they out played Laos, which is a huge statement for a brand new team against the defending champs in their first ever game. I'd go out there on a limb to push Sudan a little closer to the contender zone after that game. Tall and fast and even a few flashy moves out there. Was a GREAT game to watch.

sudan is a very solid team, with some good talent. They did out play laos forsure and had some quality chances to put the ball in the back of the net and at the end of the day they didnt. def not an underdog at all cuz nobody had a clue what sudan was capable of doing and im looking forward to watching them play ES. As for laos they struggled and had difficulty playing with a strong fast physical team. but yet again the laos team this year is an average team, so we cant compare them to the team they were last year. with missing key players like northey, anthony and even stevie, which they def could have used forsure, and prob would have made it a different game. this group is going to be intresting to see how it all unfolds in the end.
