Greece 4, Nigeria 2

I left the soccer centre on Sunday night in absolute shock. Playing in front of a huge crowd, Greece came out, took care of business at the back and scored some ugly, but well deserved goals against a hapless Nigerian squad. I knew Nigeria was inconsistent, but never in a million years did I think they would lose to Greece. Give the Greeks credit - they play with a ton of heart, they're completely fearless in every single one of their tackles, and they have a keeper who can handle big games. This throws a wrench into what can happen in Group C and I'm looking forward to the rest of the games way more than I initially was. It was only one game, but well done Greece.

this game clearly show that hard work and hussle can win games. There was nothing overly flashy or fancy and like you said some of the goals were just ugly, but they got the job done. Props to Greece, they worked hard and exposed a big weakness in Nigeria's game (lack of solid goalkeeping). I was picking Nigeria to be a hands down Second place getting out of their pool...things just got interesting after tonight!

The Greeks were sloppy and tired. I cant believe they won. Nigeria looked awful. They might be 4th place in the group if afghanistan can beat them. Greeks, savor the win, if you can play more cohesive and not get tired, you should make it out of the group stage and maybe an upset in the playoffs

Nigeria needs a new goal keeper. The guy they have is brutal. Looks good before the game, but brutal during the same.

I'm rewriting some info that was in a comment that got a little out of hand and I deleted:

Greece's keeper is Jimi Cabylis... not to be mistaken for the bigger Jimi Cabylis. The keeper is the younger cousin.

Nigeria needs a goalie they can rely on that's there down fall yr after yr and they don't do anything to change that, any goalie in this tournament could have saved 3 out of the 4 ugly goals they got but its game over u cant change a thing Greece played with their hearts out and had blocked shots after shots, any team willing to put their bodies on line deserves to win, very shocked

congrats to greece they played hard and wanted it more, not good team but work hard, blocked shots if they dint they would have lost the game, Nigeria making mistake after mistake, too much dribbling with those 3 little guys on the wing, and soft goals let in by there goalie, but i know they will play better next game but have a mountain to climb, Greece is not winning any other game, so am putting ma money on Afghanistan to challenge france

Nigeria must be one of those teams that play down to teams because i seen no intensity or speed from any of the nigerian players. They looked like the greeks put them to sleep.

To anon 2:24'. I guarantee Greece will be in the playoffs by the time they finish off Afghanistan. Afghanistan will still have to play Nigeria and France. Sorry bud, keep dreaming, the Greeks are for real, they will only get better. And yes the game with Nigeria was horrible, that will be the worst game Greece plays.
