Prime Time Showdown

The WCP Cup tournament organizers have answered the call and given the first place matchup for Group B a fantastic time slot. Ireland vs. Norway, 5 p.m., Sunday April 17. I'm getting chills thinking about it already. This will be the final group game for both teams, the final Group B game overall, both teams will have had at least four days of rest and it almost certainly will decide first and second place in the pool.

The only downside that could possibly occur is if both teams already have the playoffs locked up, there's the small chance they don't go 100%. I'm doubtful that will happen. Norway and Ireland have a history and neither team wants to say that the other got the upper hand. The game will be great.

Alright since Braden erased my previous comment I ll just retype it in. 5-0 for ROI Braden will get a red card for hacking ppl down left and right, Stefan will be owned in the middle of the field by Mccallister and Collins, Reis Copper will injury himself from trying to take out ppl but he'll end up hurting himself because hes a clumpsy clown, Andrew Baulin will get owned by David B and Jay, and Adam P and Shawn H will be eating burgers on the sidelines drinking beers and Josh G will be booed all game.

I can handle that comment. The first one was over the line though.

i find it funny that in pretty much every other article posted on this site braden talks as if every team is in the wrong and that we should be in for some big time upsets but when it comes to his beloved team he already has them penciled in for the playoffs as if norway's earlier games in the group will be cake walks. its not as if norway has done anything unbelievable that we should hearld them as an all star team or a sure fire playoff team just yet.

i think its appropriate to consider norway making it out, as none of the other teams in their group are considered to be contenders. Nobody knows anything about serbia or portugal.

I see your point with Braden always talking up Norway, but that is his team. Do you think he would say "count us out, we aren't gonna make it out"? I say the same thing about Canada, in fact I asked Kevin if we could play Jamaica first because we would like to start this tournament with a win. Everyone thinks there teams is the shit, that is why they are playing with them. However, Kevin did put us playing our first game against them, and now I am worried, lol. Maybe I should not have been so cocky.

Update, you can post Anonymous on the Canada site, but I still need to approve it and if it is over the top it probably won't go through.

Wow Situation; hilarious post but in some parts quite accurate.
I don't see Stefan being a match for Collins, McAllister, or Dwayne.
Braden will have his hands full with Jay, Brown, but especially Brett. I think it will be safe to say that Braden won't get beat often, but will resort to having to foul Brett.
As for a 5-0 score line; I think Norway will be smarter then that. They will play conservative and scratch and claw to get a chance. Norway may even score first and early; yet at the end of the day I see it being a 4-2 for ROI. Goals coming from Brown (2), Jay, and Nathan Reis.

I agree with Anon 2:37. Let's be honest, Group B this year is probably the least exciting Group overall in the tournament. ROI and Norway are Contenders. England has never done anything, Portugal sounds like they've lost a few solid players, Serbia has never had a really strong team but could be a suprise and Sierra Leone being a brand new team will likely end up taking their lumps this year. It's VERY reasonable for Norway to expect to move out of this group to the playoff rounds.

Do you honestly see anyone matching that midfield?
Norway is through and will give Ireland a go. By FAR the most entertaining game of that group.
I wanna play The Situation. Which team you on?

Actually "Chubs" I do.
Jordian and Jerson could out play that midfield. Nothing against those out guys as they are all good players.. but because of Jerson's attacking nature and Jordian ability to defend and play the long ball it would force ROI to have to keep the ball, if not they would be left exposed. So to answer your question I think that Jeri and Jordian could do the trick.
Yet conceding that you can't match that midfield is shocking... atleast have the swagger to think you can out play them until proven wrong. Take a note out of Braden's playbook.

As for Situation, yea I would love to see this guy play aswell.. seems like he'd be a complete beauty! ha

Pretty sure Chubs was asking if anyone could match Norway's midfield, not ROI's. And since El Salvador obviously couldn't do it last year, I don't think it would have a prayer in 2011. Norway would own ES's mid and WIll own Ireland's.

Well considering jerson is not a midfield player because you have to pass the ball and defend once a while in the middle and jordian was an all canadian as a center back I don't think eother will play in the middle but the starting midfield of rolfe and alvaro jr may be able to compete with norways. Should be interesting anyways.

Braden I'm pretty sure "owning" is not the correct word to use.
We lost by one goal and you guys overloaded the middle of the pitch that I was you out numbered the CM two to one, and yet we held most of the possession... I am sure that isn't considered owning, especially when the goals were created through our midfield. Don't believe me, watch the game highlights from last year.

It's 8 v 8 indoor soccer? What does Jordian playing CB in the CIS have to do with anything? Neither Rolfe or Alvaro Jr. are defensive minded players??? So ES should just leave their back line exposed to attacks... well that's a great plan.

Enjoy being crushed by France when and if you make it out of that group ES.

Alvi, You're right, it 8 v 8. So I am not sure Chico's penchant for "playing the long ball" is necessarily going to seal the deal in a midfield battle. Unless.... did you guys get Peter Crouch?

Would be a good battle though that's for sure.

no your right they dont have Crouch on their team but ill tell u who they have which might make up the difference mr.diver as in everytime he dives for the ball its usually 10/10 for showmenship, whats his name? Annibal Bravo. He might connect one out of ten but every dive he puts into is a 10.
