Ireland's Keeper: Mark Diakiw

Ireland's early tournament keeper question has been answered. Saskatoon's Mark Diakiw will be between the posts for the first couple of Ireland's games until Jonah Gardikiotis returns from Nova Scotia. I'm not sure what kind of deal Ireland made with Mark to convince him to only play a couple of games, but count them extremely fortunate to have such a good pick-up.

In other keeper news, Yorkton's Kevin Krause might not be able to play for Ukraine because of injury. No real backup for Ukraine could spell doom in the tough Group D.

That would be brutal for Ukraine, he is huge in both size and ability. I hope he will be fit for the tourney it is always nice to have good keepers in this tourney.

Not having a decent keeper in that group would be very devastating! Won't take much for a team to get lit up with the kind of teams in that group.

Who are the keepers for Canada, Jamaica and Germany?

Canada: Scott Waller according to their blog.

No clue about the others.

And yes, our goalie is Scott Waller, he played with us last year, and played with Norway when they won the cup.

isn't peto playing with them too?

yes we have two keepers. Peto & Simon. Peto will be out of town for the first couple games.

why have 2 goalies when you not gonna play them Pedo should have stayed with Canada look at what they did to him last yr, dint play a single game which is a shame due to the fact that his such a good goalie

Gotta agree. Having 2 solid goalkeepers on one team is a waste...release one and give him a shot on another team. It will only make the tournament better.

I think you are just jealous that we have 2 solid keepers.

I heard Peto quit because he didnt want to share time with that kluge kid

i think Pedo went to Poland saw him playing with them tonite which is good for him if he actually did, no need to sit on the bench with all that talent he has

you are all idiots for continuing to comment on something that has already been established.

Word on the street is Greece is just going to supply the national team to play in the tournament.

Anonymous said...

You should definitely check the rankings before you jump to conclusions you moron. Greece is ranked number 10 in the world. I wonder where your country stands? You're probably just one of those people who has read a book or taken some courses and now you claim to knows everything when it comes to soccer. You have never actually experienced playing at a high level and felt the emotions and what it takes to be successful. Or you are just miserable because you're a lousy soccer player and the best you will ever do is play Regina soccer. Well good for you for being able to critic the Regina greek mens soccer team. You are ignorant and do not know anything when it comes to playing at a high level. Soo do us all a favor and shut the fuck up.
