Portugal Shake-up

Portugal is losing two of its best players for the 2011 tournament. I've talked to a bunch of people who say that the striker Felipe and one of Portugal's best defenders, Craig, are going to be joining Canada.

This is a huge blow to Portugal's chances.

Say what you want about Felipe, but there is no doubt he brought his "A" game and an amazing amount of intensity to the WCP Cup tournament. Whenever Portugal needed a goal they always looked to Felipe and on many occasions he delivered. Craig is a solid defender and a player that rarely makes mistakes. He's not flashy like Felipe, but he's someone that any team could use at the back.

What this means is that Group B is substantially easier than it otherwise would have been if both of those players were still on Portugal. It also means that Canada's impressive roster just got another boost. I'm thinking they're the favourites of Pool D right now.

Blondish guy who plays sweeper. Plays for either Audi or Santos in div 3 right now. Good player.

I wouldn't count out Siera Leone....supposedly their players played in their countries professional league...a couple of the guys actually own a team down there lol

If anything Portugal is probably better now since those 2 clowns left

BoniekPL: Not sure if that's sarcasm, but that's been the same rumor floating the last couple years about Greece flying in some professionals. Not saying they will suck, but I'll beleive that they have pro's when I see it. Personally I hope they do...it would be nice to see that pool tougher than it appears.

greece has never flown in pros...lol...lol.. they cant even organize a practice. its somebody's cousin who came to work here for a few months.lol.. The greek team has had the same core 15 players for the past 5 years.

Felipe wants to do everything by him self thats why Portugal never went too far, his a descent player but needs to play with the rest of the team, his always looking to shoot from every were not passing so good for the team that his gone, greece is gona surprise u just wait for it its coming

Okay, well we know Felipe can do some silly things, but he scores quite a bit, and it is because of him and Craig Portugal did well, except for last year. Also, you might want to proof read before you submit your comment, it is kind of tough to read, and a little annoying.

i don't think proof reading would improve anything, clearly that post was by someone who is from mexico and only knows partial english

I worked with some of the guys from SL and they were telling me about their "pro" status before they even heard of this tournament..it would be nice to see a tough group. Anyone know when the schedule is supposed to come out?

Every immigrant in this city has played pro in their country. Do you not understand this by now. I am so tired of how many people have played pro, and then they come out just shitting the bed so bad. They are all liars they could never played pro a day in there lives. I think Garricks is the only one and he didn't even play premiere I think he play div 2 if I remember correctly. I will guarantee they all suck, and will kick your head off when they really should be trying to head or chest the ball. Bring your mouth guards, and rubber helmets it is gonna be brutal.
