Poland losing key player?

So I've heard rumblings (again, nothing conclusive) that Poland will be losing their little Saskatoon player who played a key role on last year's squad. It seems that the player (if anyone knows his actual name, I'd be grateful to know it) is seriously considering going to play for Ireland, which we all know already has a bunch of Saskatoon players.

Needless to say, this would be a major blow to Poland's chances as that player was a sparkplug for their offence and a serious threat to score every time he had the ball. Tough to replace a player with those two qualities.

I personally think this is horse**** that this kind of thing is allowed. By allowing players to jump ship to another team creates a further divide in the calibre of the teams. I get this is supposed to be a top notch tournament, but when you have a team surge like Poland or something then they get their roster torn up by bigger teams monopolizing all the good players, it creates some very uneven match ups. And the $90 player transfer fee? Mickey mouse! That's less than $5/player.

They should look at instituting either a heftier fee, restrict the non-heritage players more (I don't know of many of the countries represented that would have any troubles filling their rosters if they beefed up the heritage requirements to be 3/4s of the team or something) or disallow player transfers for a certain time period (IE: You sign up for Poland this year, you can't play for another team for next 2 years following if you bail on Poland).

I thought the transfer fee was $200? That's just what I heard initially. Now I'm hearing $100 or $90. Does anyone know what the actual rule is?

if he has more heritage with ireland, then he doesnt have to pay anything. however if he has more heritage with poland, then the transfer fee is 250$. that isn't charged to him though, its charged to the team acquiring the player.
p.s. what happend to the wcp site? is there anywhere that someone would be able to get any information on the tournament at all? how bush league is it that they can't keep their website up and running, but they can charge 90$ for a tournament pass. in order for this tournament to be elite like most people view it, it needs a website.

Congrats on the pick-up Mike. Is Ireland getting any other new players this year?

Mike Collins said...

We should have 3 or 4 new guys this year. Waiting for confirmation though.

I heard that Alvaro Santamaria is coaching ROI this year and they picked up alvaro jr and cesar

Mike Collins said...

I can also confirm that is true.

ireland are gonna be soooo awesome :O :D

im pretty sure thats bullshit. Im fairly sure alvaro jr. is on es, and i see no reason why alvaro sr. would coach ireland.

i can tell you why hes coaching. because ireland is the best team in the tournament, and they deserve the best coach. and along with the best coach, they are getting the player that does the best step-overs in regina soccer.

Rumour Alert! Rumour Alert! Ireland's next aquisition has come to light. Sorry Germany, but a key to your team has gone to winner.
Sincerly,
Secrets

Probably just bull**** about Germany losing a player to the Irish. But with a few other players leaving for ireland it really shows that collins is pulling out all the stops for this years tourny. So maybe its possible.

Could we please make a new feed with a heading of, " Germany losing key player?"

Playmaker said...

I would write something about it except I haven't heard any credible details yet. I only wrote the Poland post because I heard about it from a reliable source who would know about the issue. If I were to make a post about Germany I would have absolutely nothing to write because I know 0 details right now.

Hey Playmaker,
I guarantee that Germany will lose a player from last years roster to Irelands roster this year. I realize that might not be concrete enough for you but Germany doesn't even know about it yet...SO YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST!!!

rumours are called rumours because they are ..... rumours

the only player i could see leaving that squad for greener pastures would be zerr, because he has done it before, and thats probably the only guy on germany that mike collins would talk to.

i can confirm this comment above me is wrong. And that ireland have picked up germanys star player.

Germany is going to be pissed at Ireland! Hope they end up in the same group this year.

who is germany's star player anyways?

S'toon w/Ear to the Ground: It's good that you know if something is going to happen. Why don't you just write who the name is. There's not really any suspense if it could be any one of 20 players for Germany. If you say who it is then at least people can try and confirm if its true or not. Makes it a little more interesting that way.
Nobody heard anything here first if you don't actually give the name. Otherwise as soon as we figure it out all you have to do is say "I told you so." I'm pretty sure that's how bogus psychics and scam artists work and everyone just thinks they're crazy and annoying.

its probably that Duncan kid or whatever his name is that plays on the wing or even that keeper, simon kluge i think?

YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST! ONE OF THE 22 TEAMS IN THE TOURNAMENT WILL BE CROWNED CHAMPIONS AFTER THE FINAL GAME. I CALLED IT! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH!!

Ireland will also be bringing a player from Uganda. He played for the u17 Canadian national team, trained with the Uganda u19 national team, played with Vancouver Whitecaps residency program, and the BC provincial team. He is deadly on the wing and has great speed. They call him fbk (full back killer) Kambere will be playing for Ireland. Defenders, be aware!

Playmaker said...

Well for Ireland's sake let's hope this Ugandan is a really good player with plenty of hidden Irish heritage. Until I see him play, I won't be jumping on the whole hype wagon no matter who he's trained with. The dirty little secret about Regina soccer is that its players have a much dirtier style than almost anywhere else in Canada and the WCP Cup takes that to the max. I'm not saying it will happen for sure, but players from outside of the province tend to get intimidated, especially during the first few games. Plus, Ireland will need to score a ton of goals if they can't find a replacement for Jonah in net - he'll be in Cape Breton for the first couple weeks because of final exams.
