2011 WCP Cup player rumours

So to put some slightly credible rumours out there....

Ireland is actively seeking players again. Credible rumours I've heard are:
Have wrapped up Poland's Brett Levis (mid-Saskatoon);
Are talking to Germany's Duncan McDougall (mid-Saskatoon);
Are looking for a keeper - either Germany's Simon Kluge (k-Saskatoon) or Ukraine's Kevin Krause (k-Yorkton). This is to replace (at least temporarily) the 2010 keeper Jonah Gardikiotis, who will be writing exams in Nova Scotia for at least the first part of the tournament.

Also, some Saskatoon players are likely going to be absent for games, again because of exams. If anyone else has heard anything, I'll look into it.

It would be interesting to know how many players out there will have final exams during this time?

I know its all about preparing right and organizing yourself around games, but it will be tough for some.

I'm interested in knowing when our games are, as having a game and an exam scheduled at the same time would make it pointless for some to participate. Missing 1-2 games is alright (given that we are playing 5+ games, but if your missing 3 or more, your not receiving the value of your money spent. As long as the schedule is released when it is supposed to be, you can come up with a solution to work around it, miss 1-2, or if hectic enough, not participate (which sucks).

Ireland better steal as many players as they can so their losing streak doesnt grow.

The 1 game losing streak

better stock up and steal some more players. with the roster and ego's you guys already have, shouldnt you have walked over the competition last year?

Ireland is just a joke going after players from other teams is just getting the fun out of wcp and i wish the commmitte does some thing to make it turf for them to gt away with this, coz non of these guys are actually irish so shame on them for leaving their actually nationalities, thats why regina soccer or sask soccer is such a joke and the only thing exciting is being destroyed

Completely agree with anon 4:28. I wish the Committe would toughen up on heritage rules...let's be honest, teams like Ireland should have absolutely no problems finding people with Irish heritage playing soccer. Would be great to see them really up the heritage requirement to 75% must be heritage (rules are relaxed enough where it's not like you need to be directly from the country, as long as you have a relitive somewhere down the line from there). It would prevent garb like what ROI is doing (Really Canada would be the only team that would be a free for all) and make sure that the star non-heritage players are more evenly distributed amongst all the teams.

we should introduce some sort of salary cap... except it would be the transfer cap, where you can only sign 2 new players per year. if you choose to go over that, then the 3rd player signed or so on has to miss 3 games, 4th player misses 4 games and so on. this way you wouldnt really benefit from signing more players

Krause is playing for Ireland? what the hell?

putting a limit on transfering players would be tough to administer. Team A has a garbage coach or a douchey player and half the team wants to leave but can't because of the rules? I mean it might work (something has to change in this for sure), but I think putting more restrictions on rosters would be easier than having player transfer fees/rules. I mean in the real World Cup it's not like you can just pay a fee and jump ship to another team.

this site is much better thanks for putting it up, now lets have a topic of which teams to watch out for this time, i know its always ROI but any other teams we can expect to emerge as contenders from last yr? any rumors?

Lol. Germany is looking to get a bunch of new Saskatoon players. I'll write about it later. They're definitely not getting any Norway players because almost everyone has signed the heritage papers already. I posted a week ago that the roster was almost completely set.

looks like your going to have to replace stefan, now that he has signed with germany

Anonymous said...

what saskatoon players did germany get this year? do they have the twins again?

Anonymous said...

Stefan went to Germany? That's a big loss for Norway... How on earth did they manage that one? Way to go Germany!

man if i was playing for germany and stefan came to my team, i would quit hes terrible

Stefan isn't going anywhere. Both germany captains say they haven't talked to him. Norway captain says he's already signed the form. Its a done deal, he's with Norway for 2011.
